Organic certifications can be acquired for domestic distribution (PGS and NPOP), as well as, for export to various countries (EU, USA, Canada, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Switzerland, etc).
The following Organic Certification Agencies have been accredited by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Government of India, to offer organic certification across an array of segments. The list has been updated by APEDA on Oct 1, 2020.
ORGANIC CERTIFICATION GUIDE
NPOP – National Programme for Organic Production. This is indicated by the ‘India Organic’ logo. This certification is for companies with domestic distribution.
PGS – Participatory Guarantee Systems. This certification is also for domestic distribution, but is meant for shorter supply chains. It has largely been devised to help small scale farmers, who find NPOP expensive or tedious.
NOP – National Organic Program. This is indicated by the USDA logo.
Euro-Leaf (EU Organic logo) – This is indicated by a green leaf design. It must be acquired by those looking to export to EU countries.
Bio Suisse – For export to Switzerland.
JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standards) – For export to Japan.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) – For organic certification of textiles.
COSMOS ORGANIC – For organic certification of cosmetics & skincare products.

How can a person who is only selling Natural farm food and food products can avail this certificate ?
Mr Joshi, you cannot avail organic certification for natural foods. Best to sell them as “Chemical-Free” foods or “Natural Foods” or “Organically Grown” (in case the produce has been grown using organic farming methods).
